SABUKO (Society for Nature Conservation) is a nature conservation NGO based in Georgia, created as a successor of the GCCW – Georgian Centre for the Conservation of Wildlife. Our Mission is Protect, Conserve and restore wildlife and their habitats in Georgia, increase the valuation of nature by the public and encourage the sustainable use of natural resources.

Since 06.2020, Sabuko has been implementing the Joint Environmental Monitoring in the Black Sea Basin project, which aims to increase the level of access to transboundary environmental monitoring data and information in Protected areas.

Sabuko is announcing an invitation to Tender under the project, to purchase a watercraft.

 

The project covers Kolkheti National Park in Georgia, which includes east coast line of Black Sea and Lake Paliastomi basin.

One of the main outputs of the project Joint Monitoring for Environmental Protection in BSB countries, is collection of compatible data and topical information about the location and size of damaged areas, the types of pressure and territories most dependent on climate changed and anthropogenic influences. In order to reach fulfill this task, for each nature park or protected area, permanent sampling control sites should be designated in which experts and volunteers will perform annual field observations.

Kolkheti National Park is characterized by live sphagnum peatlands. Around 60 % of the entire peatland area of Georgia is situated and protected in Kolkheti National Park.

The researchers will use River Pichori and Paliastomi lake in order to move within the protected area. Smart environmental monitoring and observation included in the project will be fulfilled due to availability of movement with the watercraft.
